Music

Intent

At Crawley Ridge Junior School, our music curriculum aims to inspire enjoyment, confidence and a lifelong love of music. We believe that every child is musical and that music is a powerful way for pupils to express themselves, develop cultural understanding and work collaboratively.

Music Implementation Statement

Music is taught through a progressive and well‑structured curriculum that develops pupils’ musical skills and understanding over time. Lessons include opportunities to listen, perform, compose and evaluate music, using a range of voices, instruments and technologies. Teaching introduces a variety of musical styles, cultures and traditions, and develops pupils’ knowledge of musical elements and vocabulary through practical, inclusive and engaging experiences.

Music Impact Statement

By the end of their time at Crawley Ridge Junior School, pupils are confident participants in music who can listen with understanding, perform with control and compose simple musical ideas. They use appropriate musical language to talk about music and show an appreciation of different styles and cultures. Pupils leave with a positive attitude towards music and the skills and enthusiasm to continue their musical journey.
