Our Ethos & Values

We believe that children who arrive at CRJS embark on a journey of exploration and discovery through guided and personalised first hand learning experiences.

‘Live the Learning: Learn for Life’

Our pupils are empowered to learn through experiencing our past, present and future environments at first hand. Through this, they develop a thirst for life-long learning. We encourage learners to achieve their full potential in a supportive environment based upon mutual respect. We achieve this through successful and supportive communication which is at the heart of our whole school belief.

Our Values

I respect, I am positive, I belong.

I respect

I care for myself, others and our environment

I am positive

I try my best in all aspects of learning and school life

I belong

I am a valued part of the team

Ethos

Crawley Ridge junior School endeavours to provide a school day which excites, challenges and motivates each individual child. Teachers consider ways of organising children’s learning, which promote excellence, perseverance, resilience, self-discipline and independent learning in classrooms. Children are purposefully engaged in a variety of carefully planned activities to meet clear and shared learning intentions, which are aimed at motivating, encouraging and challenging every child. Individuals are valued, mutual respect is evident, teamwork is celebrated and there is a culture of learning for all within a caring environment.

Our school believes that each child should have the opportunity to develop their capabilities to the full. We believe that this is achieved by developing and nurturing the whole child and that all aspects of development should be valued and acknowledged by our community.

Children, who realise that their individual qualities are valued as much as their academic ability, grow in self-esteem, begin to flourish and have confidence in all areas of school life. We believe that co-operation in our society ensures an atmosphere in which individuals flourish socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically. We aim to enlarge a child’s knowledge, experience and imaginative understanding and thus his/her awareness of moral values and capacity for enjoyment. We hope to enable each child to enter the world after formal education is over as an active participant in society and a responsible contributor to it, capable of achieving as much independence as possible.

Children in our school achieve high academic standards. We therefore aim to enable children to reach their potential by ensuring there are high standards of achievement in all subject areas. They are also valued for themselves and their many achievements, whatever they may be. More than anything, we believe that our children enjoy coming to school; it is a happy place!

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
